The Denver Post lets Chris Hill lie again
The Common Ills
Failed ambassador to Iraq Chris Hill was forced out of his post when Barack Obama learned just how lousy a job Hill was doing. Unlike others who elected to leave the post, Barack demanded Chris Hill leave.
Yes, that's how bad Hill was.
It wasn't just his attending a party dressed as a Secret Service agent (accompanying a woman -- not his wife -- dressed as the then-Jackie Kennedy), it was his insulting Iraq and the Iraqi people and doing so in the presence of Iraqis working in and around the US Embassy.
Peter Van Buren, author of the book We Meant Well: How I helped Lose the Battle for the Hearts and Minds of the Iraqi People, posted the photo of Hill at his blog here and here. (Van Buren supplied the caption to the Hill photo.)
It wasn't just Hill's bad taste that made him a poor fit for ambassador to Iraq, no.
It was also his homoerotic flirtation with thug and then-prime minister Nouri al-Maliki.
Most of all, it was his failure to grasp events around him.
The Denver Post publishes out of Denver, Colorado which means they're kind of obligated to publish Hill's nonsense since the University of Denver was stupid enough to employ Hill.
But that doesn't mean they have to publish his lies.
Publish his deluded opinions, sure.
We can all use a good laugh, after all.
But they've published his stale column with the lies:
Though Sunnis account for only around 20 percent of Iraq's population, they play an outsized role in determining the country's fate.
Yes, we took on that lie when the column first appeared.
But it's back now thanks to the Denver Post.
I don't think Chris Hill knows what a Shi'ite is.
At his confirmation hearing, he seemed to think Shia was a race.
It's not.
Nor is it it an ethnicity.
Here's the reality the Denver Post helps Chris Hill conceal:
Those are the CIA figures.
Chris Hill hated Sunnis. He didn't care for them before he went to Iraq but he called them "losers" and worse (much worse) once he got to Iraq.
Whatever the reason for his hatred, it has blinded him to reality and it's past time that his lying was called out.
Those are the CIA figures.
If the Denver Post wants to question those figures, go for it.
Otherwise, they need to stop printing Chris Hill which are political in nature and intended to minimize and degrade the Sunni population.

Here's the reality the Denver Post helps Chris Hill conceal:
Arab 75%-80%, Kurdish 15%-20%, Turkoman, Assyrian, or other 5%
Arabic (official), Kurdish (official), Turkmen (a Turkish dialect) and Assyrian (Neo-Aramaic) are official in areas where they constitute a majority of the population), Armenian
Muslim (official) 99% (Shia 60%-65%, Sunni 32%-37%), Christian 0.8%, Hindu <.1, Buddhist <.1, Jewish <.1, folk religion <.1, unafilliated .1, other <.1
note: while there has been voluntary relocation of many Christian families to northern Iraq, recent reporting indicates that the overall Christian population may have dropped by as much as 50 percent since the fall of the Saddam HUSSEIN regime in 2003, with many fleeing to Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon (2010 est.)
32,585,692 (July 2014 est.)
