Some have a strange idea of what passes for sexy

Some have a strange idea of what passes for sexy

The Common Ills
Of course, I thought, the whoring never ends at Salon.

But, turns out, Salon whores so much that even they tire of it requiring them to import whoring from other outlets.

TomDispatch.com is the sort of wave-an-angry-fist-and-make-generic-anti-war-statements website that never accomplishes much because to tell the truth would send The Nation and other backers running.

The article never ends.

On and on it goes.

One lie piled on top of another (George HW Bush was a great diplomat as president?  Do most diplomats throw up on other people at official dinners?), one historical factoid -- slightly bent in most cases -- after another as Alfred W. McCoy attempts to turn a diffident man into the greatest politician ever.

It's garbage -- worse it's political porn.

I can understand the entertainment value in, for example, political conspiracy.

But political porn?

Have you looked at these people?

Who in their right mind would want to see them with their clothes off?

Alfred W. McCoy, apparently.

Hopefully, his work is a specialty for a niche market.

What are politicians good for?

Lying, among other things.

Iraqi Spring MC reports that the Mayor of Mahmudiya announced to activists that he was honoring their cry that he resign and then . . . he went back to his office and (mis)performing his duties.

Maybe Alfred McCoy can write some slash fiction about his encounter with the mayor?

Meanwhile, September 2nd saw 18 people kidnapped in the Sadr City section of Baghdad.  The 18 were 1 Iraqi interpreter and 17 Turkish workers.  Reuters reports two of the 18 have been released.  Alsumaria notes they were released near a hospital under construction in Basra.

Alsumaria also reports that the National Accord issued a statement noting the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's list of reforms (or 'reforms') have not touched the root of the problem that they were supposed to be addressing.

Speaking of supposed to be addressing, remember when AFP announced on Twitter that they had the list and would be publishing it?

Whatever happened to that?
