As we noted yesterday, Senator John McCain and Senator and 2016 GOP presidential candidate aspirant Lindsey Graham appeared on CBS' FACE THE NATION calling for more US troops in Iraq and more of Barack Obama's plan or 'plan' while pretending that they had come up with some novel and new solution to the Islamic State. Thomas Gaist (WSWS) sees that appearance as part of a coordinated offense to sell more war:
In an extended commentary published last week, “ISIS: Boots on the Ground?,” theFinancial Times (FT) cited top Western military and security officials calling for aggressive new attacks against Iraq and Syria.
The article cites experts recommending new siege operations against Iraqi cities, including Ramadi, Tikrit and Mosul, as well as carpet bombing of civilian infrastructure and civilian areas relied on by ISIS forces.
The bloody 2004 US siege of Fallujah is “a model that should be applied” to ground operations against ISIS, British military expert Afzal Ashraf told the FT. The paper noted that the Fallujah operation “took thousands troops and months of violence,” and that, due to the operation, “the city of mosques became one of rubble.” Nonetheless, it went on to extensively quote Ashraf as he advocated Fallujah-style offensives across Iraq.

The Nation and The Progressive will as well -- just as soon as they can figure out how to absolve Barack and use this to sell VOTE DEMOCRAT.
Those two outlets whored their reputations to get in bed with Barack and they're going to find post-Barack America hard to live in since their craven activities are well documented and well known.

It's only the objection to it from so-called left 'leaders' that ended.
INN reports Haider al-Abadi, the latest US-installed prime minister of Iraq, issued a statement today stating that Iraq does not need any foreign forces but will gladly take more weapons. He actually stated they have enough "men" which is a real slap in the face to the Kurdish women who have been fighting in the military. But Haider's a pig.
Why is he refusing US forces?
Because he doesn't want anyone getting in too deep with what's really happening to civilians as the militias he whines that he can't control (is he really trying?) terrorize 'liberated' civilians.
Watch some idiots -- I can hear the southern drawl over the airwaves gearing up right now -- try to sell Haider's refusal as a principle or something to applaud when it's actually motivated by his desire to conceal (and continue) War Crimes.
I'm opposed to any US forces on the ground in Iraq. I am not, however, going to applaud someone as a 'hero' because they refuse US forces so that they can continue to persecute a minority. And it's this perverse desire/need for a hero to worship that goes a long, long way towards explaining how a huckster from Chicago made it into the White House promising to end the war in Iraq and, all these years later, still hasn't and promises that the Iraq War will continue after he's left the White House.
