The Iraq War continues

The Iraq War continues

 The Common Ills
Friday, the US Defense Dept issued the following:

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Chief Petty Officer Jason C. Finan, 34, of Anaheim, California, died Oct. 20 in northern Iraq, of wounds sustained in an improvised explosive device blast.

He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Three.

Steven Luke reports from San Diego's Channel 7:

Steven Luke: He was supposed to be working as sort of an advisory -- at least according to the Pentagon -- sort of an advisory role which is where most of these members are working these days but obviously as we're seeing now, heart breakingly, his wife and seven-year-old son are realizing that he was on the front lines of danger.

San Diego's Fox 5 covers the Sunday vigil held for Jason Finan.

REUTERS notes:

New details from a U.S. military investigation into Navy Chief Petty Officer Jason Finan's death in Iraq are illustrating the twin risks of a bomb-ridden battlefield and shifting front lines in the campaign to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State militant group (ISIS).
Finan on Thursday became the first U.S. military casualty in Iraq's offensive to capture the city of 1.5 million people, a highly complex operation that is expected to become the biggest battle fought in Iraq since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

So Barack lied again.

Don't expect activist Jane Fonda to call him out.

Don't expect her to mourn the death of another US service member in the never ending war or any Iraqis deaths.

Like Gore Vidal used to say, if you want to know about activism, ask Vanessa Redgrave but if you want to know what Shelley Winters' ______ tasted like, ask Jane Fonda.

What a proud moment for you, Jane.  Please wallow in it during your remaining time on earth.

Courage, Jane, courage.

You've slept with how many women now -- and I don't mean snoozing.

You're about as honest there as you are about Iraq, aren't you?

Now maybe you get why she always spends so much time selling to the public this or that relationship with a man -- the woman lives in a non-stop homosexual panic.

Jane can't respond to charges that she's really not interested in peace -- she's too busy working to elect corporate War Hawk Hillary Clinton.

As we noted yesterday, US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter visited Iraq.

President Ash Carter in Iraq forms post ISIS support plan for Iraqi US Forces in Mosul. Barack Obama is fundraising & going on Jimmy Kimmel

President Ash Carter in Iraq meets with both Iraqi and US Forces during Mosul offensive against ISIS. Barack Obama dances to Hotline Bling.

Guess Barack figures that one visit to Iraq as president -- way back in April of 2009 -- qualifies as commander in chief and leadership.

Well as least he thinks so, right?

The US isn't the only country with troops in harms way in Iraq.

Alleged images of Canadian special forces troops involved in the operation Abadi( liar) say only Iraqi forces' presence liar liar

Iraq

The Iraq War continues and so does the offensive in Mosul.

How's that last part going?

Federal Police Commander Al-Motoori: US coalition provides 'absolutely No air support' to us. Talk of any support to us is a lie!

Talk of any support to us is a lie!!!!!

That's just wonderful coming from those the White House has again trained.

And another wrinkle?  THE NEW YORK TIMES reports that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, continues to insist that he and his country's military be involved in the battle for Mosul -- this despite universal insistence from the Baghdad-based central government of Iraq that Turkish forces leave Iraq.  XINHUA offers, "The reason Turkey insists on participating in the battle to free the Iraqi city Mosul from the Islamic State (IS) militants, in addition to Turkish president's declared nostalgia for the Ottoman dominion, is that the country has security concerns about the terror threats and mass migration it may face, local experts say."

In other news . . .

  • You would think parliament has more important things to do than to ban sale, import and production of alcohol
  •

You would think so but this is another means to persecute a minority -- in this case, Iraqi Christians.

Last week, a US service member died in the Iraq War.

says Navy EOD specialist killed in team was attached to SEALs and killed as he was directing team away from an IED 1/2

2/2 Navy Chief Perry Officer Finan was in another vehicle which hit another IED as he warned others, Lt Gen Townsend said in presser wSecDef

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter as again visited Iraq.

  • Carter meets with KRG President to discuss current Mosul operations and next steps in counter campaign

  •

  • greeted in Erbil, Iraq by PM Nechervan Barzani and KRG Honor guard. Will meet with President + talk with US troops
  •

  • A chance encounter: in Iraq runs into homebound . He spoke to same group at before deploying to

  •

  • Carter tells reporters: it will be difficult, but will be recaptured. We now must plan for restabilization after
  •

Ash Carter in Irbil to review Kurds’ role in Mosul campaign

US President Barack Obama has visited how many times since becoming president?

Since being voted into the White House on his lie that he'd end the Iraq War?

    How many times?

    One time.

    April 7, 2009.

    That's it.

Two terms as president and that's it.

What about Hillary Clinton's four years as Secretary of State?

    Once.

    April 25, 2009.

Now after that, she was in Turkey repeatedly.

Turkey borders Iraq -- it shares a border with northern Iraq.

But Iraq was never important enough to her to ever visit again.

    Grasp that.

Is she, like Barack, afraid she'll get a shoe thrown at her?

    Probably.

    A shoe or a house.
