Human Rights Department of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (HEYET) published its montly report of human rights developments in the country. According to the report, government security forces carried out 161 separate attacks comprising of 15 provinces resulting in arrest of 1435 innocent civilians.
Including women, 1435 Iraqi civilians were arrested in indiscriminate attacks, raid and searches of government forces as follows:
Basra: 410 arrested
Diyala: 239 arrested
Nineveh: 179 arrested
Baghdad: 92 arrested
Anbar: 86 arrested
Babylon 78 arrested
Qadisiye: 72 arrested
Karbela: 64 arrested
Salahaddin: 58 arrested
Wasit: 41 arrested
Misan: 39 arrested
Tamim: 33 arrested
Dhi-Kkar: 31 arrested
Muthanna: 19 arrested
Najaf: 3 arrested
Human Rights Department of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq (HEYET) reitariated that the report is just based on the official announcement and statistics of current Interior and Defense Ministries. Total arrest campaign is just based on aforementioned ministries whereas so-called National Security Ministry forces, special forces of Maliki Office, militias, Peshmarga forces who are indeed carrying out similar kinds of indiscriminate attacks and arrest campaigns.
At the end of report, HEYET demanded human rights organizations and related international organizations, Islamic Cooperation Organization, Arab Leage to intervene in this apparent violations and arrests of government forces. She stated that Iraq has obviously become a huge prison where henious crimes, tortures are being perpetrated supposedly under freedom and democracy. HEYET hold ongoing occupation and its fifth government fully responsible for the whole brutal crimes against people in this wounded country since 2003.
