The Common Ills
The United Nations 'mission' in Iraq noted today, "The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Ján Kubiš welcomed the UN General Assembly Resolution on ‘Saving the Cultural Heritage of Iraq’, which was adopted unanimously on Thursday in New York."

Yes, by all means, let's applaud that.

Let's save 'culture.'

Let's save it and let's prioritize it over the lives of the Iraqi people, okay?

Sounds good, right?

Save the statues, kill the people, save the artifacts, bomb the hospitals.

That's how the world -- and especially the UN General Assembly shows that they 'care' about Iraq.

Margaret Griffis ( notes that "at least 4,007 were killed and 897 were wounded" in Iraq in the month of May.

There was no General Assembly resolution on the need to protect the Iraqi people.

And let's not worry about the bombing of hospitals in Falluja or about the immunization program that's so underfunded in Iraq its in danger of ceasing operations.

Instead, let's worry about artifacts because they matter so much more than human life.

In fact, let's all come together around the world right now with a plan to save all the artifacts in all countries.

We can do that, you and I.

We just have to agree to all kill ourselves at the same moment in time.

A global level Jonestown will protect all the artifacts from human destruction.

It won't protect humans, we'll be dead, but remember, artifacts are apparently more important than human life -- the United Nations General Assembly makes that clear with their priorities.
