Iraq: Multiple suicide bombings by Islamic State claim 24 lives

At  least 24 people were killed and over 60 injured in multiple incidents of suicide attacks in Iraq on 4 April, targeting mostly members of Shi'ite militias and military forces.
According to a Reuters report, the Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The IS enjoys a stronghold in western and norther Iraq territories.
In one incident, a suicide car bomb killed five in Basra, the largest city in Iraq, while five others were killed when a convoy of the Popular Mobilization Force (PMF) was targeted in Mashahdeh town of Baghdad.
The PMF is a coalition of Shi'ite militias.
Targeting another group of PMF members, few people blew themselves up at an army checkpoint killing four in Nassiriya area of Baghdad. In three more such incidents, five people were killed in Islamic State attacks on Monday.
