Liz Sly (Washington Post) has a piece on David Petraeus. She submitted questions in writing and he responded.
Petraeus was General David Petraeus, the top US commander in Iraq until the fall of 2008 (Gen Ray Odierno replaced him) and he then went on to CENTCOM and then he retired from the military and was in charge of the CIA.
There he left in disgrace having shared classified information with his mistress.
Despite that, Barack's brought him back as a national security advisor.
Here's Petraues talking (or writing about it) to Liz Sly:
Yet despite that history and the legacy it has left, I think Iraq and the coalition forces are making considerable progress against the Islamic State. In fact, I would argue that the foremost threat to Iraq’s long-term stability and the broader regional equilibrium is not the Islamic State; rather, it is Shiite militias, many backed by — and some guided by — Iran.
These militia returned to the streets of Iraq in response to a fatwa by Shia leader Grand Ayatollah Sistani at a moment of extreme danger. And they prevented the Islamic State from continuing its offensive into Baghdad. Nonetheless, they have, in some cases, cleared not only Sunni extremists but also Sunni civilians and committed atrocities against them. Thus, they have, to a degree, been both part of Iraq's salvation but also the most serious threat to the all-important effort of once again getting the Sunni Arab population in Iraq to feel that it has a stake in the success of Iraq rather than a stake in its failure. Longer term, Iranian-backed Shia militia could emerge as the preeminent power in the country, one that is outside the control of the government and instead answerable to Tehran.

Cowardice?
The Nation never came out in support of war resisters.
That is appalling.
Katty feared they'd lose their post office rates if they did.
Seriously, the stupid brat was more worried about print copies being delivered (as print was dying out) than taking a stand for war resisters.
What a spoiled little brat she was.
Using granddaddy's money to buy her seat at the table (granddaddy earned that money screwing over many African-American entertainers such as Lena Horne), Katty took over the magazine and destroyed it.
Iraq Veterans Against the War is a joke today (due to whoring for Barack and their constant embrace of conspiracy theories) but they had one proud moment.
The Winter Soldier hearings.
The Nation filed what on that?
Give credit to Chris Hayes who was busy on other things but was asked to cover it (among many we asked to cover it) and he did (and he was one of the few who kept his promise -- yeah, Matthew Rothchild, you're a suck ass liar for all time and don't get me started on the way you betrayed Cindy Sheehan -- that even she doesn't know about).
But that's it.
A significant event and only Chris covered it.
And under Barack what has Katty offered?
Let's see, she's got the Lyndon Larouche (if that's not spelled right, I really don't give a ____). Yeah, Katty rehabbed him, didn't she?
She should be asked to explain the prominence she's given that man.
(By the way, Katty, since Betsy went to The Intercept, she's been dining out on how out of control and inflated your ego is.)
He's offered little of value.
Then there's Greggy.
If you want to know about the e-books he's written, Greg's always plugging them at The Nation.
And he serves his moldy leftovers while avoiding dealing with events in Iraq under Barack.
So they missed the whole targeting of the LGBTQ community in Iraq -- targeted by then prime minister Nouri al-Maliki.
They ignored the over one year of non-stop protests.
They ignored The Erbil Agreement.
They ignored everything of value.
Maybe a rich brat shouldn't be put in charge of The Nation to begin with?
Maybe one who has a spy daddy and whose funds come largely from ripping off African-American entertainers should be rebuked
Is it a surprise that a bed wetting brat can only run a magazine into the ground?
No more surprising than that she's inflated her threadbare journalistic credentials for years by claiming to have won a prize that she didn't win. But The Nation let her pretend on that as well.
And now people pretend that The Nation can come back.
That after all these years of whoring under Barack can be swept away.
They can't be.
And the magazine is dead unless and until they eject Katty van-van.
