Two serious traffic incidents took place in As-Sulaymaniyah province killing two people total and
wounding four others.
Another took place in the same area later, killing the son of a commander of the Kurdistan Islamic
Union and wounding three of the commander's bodyguards.
Seven civilians in the Abu Ghraib district in the west of Baghdad were injured and hospitalized by rotten,
or possibly poisoned, food. A roadside bomb went off beneath a civilian car in the north of Hillah, killing
one civilian and wounding two others. Another went off beneath a civilian car in the southeast
of Baghdad, wounding four civilians. Gunmen threw a stun grenade at the house of a local official in Basra.
The bodies of three police elements, including an officer, were found in the south of Baquba, killed by gunshot.
Fighters opened fire on a police checkpoint that they were driving by in the west of Mosul, killing two of its
elements.
The Diyala Police Command claims to have detained over 1500 civilians in Diyala province over the last year.
