Maryam Alkhawaja, co-director of the Gulf Centre for Human Rights, was released from prison on 18 September after being arrested at Bahrain International airport on 30 August.
In one of her first interviews since being released, she talks to the Middle East Eye's Rori Donaghy about the elections in Bahrain, the sectarian split in the country, the importance of the human rights discourse and her imprisonment.
