A member of a council of Arab tribes was exposed to an assassination attempt in the explosion of a bomb by his home in the south of Kirkuk. It caused material damage to his home but injured no one.
Gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on two civilians in the northeast of Baquba, killing one on the spot and injuring another. A policewoman's dead body (strangled) was found today six days after her disappearance in the west of Dahuk – government forces launched a series of searches and raids, detaining two people they accused of involvement in the incident.
After intervention by Yemen, the government agreed to release seven innocent Yemeni detainees out of twenty-five in question. The presence was confirmed of twenty-one young children, mistreated and held indefinitely, in a women's prison in Baghdad (housing 414 women). Kurdish government forces detained a commander of the old Republican Guard as he was attending a funeral in the east of Mosul.
Government forces, along with striking many others, shot and injured four peaceful protestors, including a child, in a demonstration against the government southwest of Amarah.
