IRAQ NEWS SUMMARY (17 DECEMBER 2014)



A least 36 people were killed, mostly civilians, and many others were wounded in airstrikes by the international coalition's warplanes on Wednesday on different parts of the city of Mosul, Nineveh province.

The killing of a government policeman and his wife in an adhesive bomb Wednesday in the district (Muqdadiyah) northeast of the city of Baquba, Diyala province.

Person was killed and six others wounded in an armed attack and a roadside bomb in separated locations Wednesday morning in the area (Abu Karma) of the district (Abu Saida) in Diyala province.

A militiaman of the so-called "popular mobilization" was killed, and another wounded; after they were hit by fire from an unknown sniper Wednesday evening in the area (Hamrin) north-east of the city of Baquba.

Sectarian militias committed a new crime Wednesday evening; when they stormed a house in Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, and killed all the family members, which consists of four people, including children.

Three of the government police were injured in an armed attack on their point in the Tahrir Square on Tuesday evening in central Baghdad.

Three people were killed, including a pharmacist by a bomb and an armed attack in the Amil district and NAHRAWAN Wednesday of the capital Baghdad.

Three people were killed and five others seriously wounded, mostly by the explosion of an improvised explosive device in Tamim neighborhood south of Baghdad, in a third incident witnessed in the capital on Wednesday.

Three people were killed including a child, in two separate attacks on Wednesday and the Tuz and Dujail east and south of the city of Tikrit afternoon Salahuddin province.

Four people were seriously injured; in an armed attack Wednesday evening near the (Ishaqi) south of Salahuddin province, in the third incident of its kind seen in a matter of hours.
